While chairing a consultation session on formulation of new ADP 2017-18 and mid-year review of ADP 2016-17 at P&D Complex Lahore, on Wednesday, Khan said that Punjab P&D has now scheduled the meeting of mid-year review of ADP 2016-17 from January 16 to 20, 2017. In this meeting, slow pace on ongoing schemes being executed by the departments would be examined thoroughly and additional funding, if required would be decided to complete these schemes. The P&D department has already fixed January 31 deadline for all the departments to furnish its complete status of surplus funds, which would be utilised properly and timely on the other development schemes.
During the meeting, it was informed that under the new local government set-up, district education authority will implement the education sector schemes in the districts while implementation of "Kisan Package" is also being closely monitored. Provincial Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, administrative secretaries, members P&D Board, Joint Chief Economist P&D, Director PERI & other higher officials concerned attended the session.
Jahanzeb Khan emphasised that administrative departments and development partners should sit together to finalise projects for inclusion in next ADP 2017-18. The P&D has to formulate Punjab ADP with the help of sustainable development goals (SDGs), he disclosed.
Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said that departments have now utilised funds of 143 billion rupees against the development schemes. He advised the administrative departments to share the completed schemes up to June 30. P&D department would prepare its ADP first draft from February 01 to March 15, while in May the said ADP for 2017-18 would be forwarded to Finance department and afterward to Assembly for final approval. Punjab Finance secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh said the Finance department will ensure availability of funds while issues about release of funds must be settled in time with FD by the concerned departments.
